Meeting the needs of Indigenous communities

We especially cherish our work with Indigenous communities, where our services yield tangible and appreciated results.

For over 10 years, our founder has worked with First Nations and Innu communities by offering training in schools for educators and directly assisting students.

We have a dedicated room for daily remote support at Kitiganik School in the Algonquin community of Barrier Lake (Rapid Lake), and we have worked or are working at the following locations: Timiskaming First Nation Health & Wellness Centre, Innus of the Unamen Shipu Council, the Maniwaki Native Friendship Centre, and the Tshakapesh Institute.

Through Jordan’s Principle, we provide assistance to students across Canada in both English and French.

“If we invest in our children and support their education and well-being, we build a stronger nation for everyone.”

— Mary Simon, Inuit leader and current Governor General of Canada

Our Services

1

Complete educational assessment

The assessment helps us evaluate a student’s reading, writing, and math learning processes, which in turns enables us to create a personalized educational intervention plan targeting the most effective strategies and learning tools.

2

School intervention plan

We develop tailored intervention plans based on the specific learning needs of each individual student.

3

Weekly re-education

The intervention plan tailored to each student enables us to work each week with the student using specialized pedagogical strategies.

4

Educational re-evaluation

We accurately assess each student’s academic progress and challenges, and update both the short-term objectives and the intervention plan as needed.

5

Specialized training

Training sessions are adapted to the context and culture of each school and community. Various training options are available, including:

6

Support in using assistive technologies

We help students and educators use technological tools like WordQ, Lexibar, a phonological dictionary, and other tools, according to the need.

7

Educational material kits

We build specialized educational kits for different grade levels and to meet specific challenges. We prepare the materials and provide training to staff, to optimize effectiveness with students.

CAS is located on the traditional unceded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinàbe Algonquin People. We show our respect and gratitude to the Algonquin People who have inhabited and cared for these lands and carried out trade and exchange since time immemorial. We acknowledge the harms done to Indigenous peoples learning from the past; as a member of the Good4.Global community, we commit to maintaining sustainable and inclusive business practices, and to move forward in partnership with the Algonquin Nations, First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in a spirit of reconciliation through meaningful and demonstrable actions that support the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action.
